oper8r Documentation

Chat mode a conversational interface that allows you to interact with the oper8r agent through natural language conversations.

Getting Started

To start a new chat, open the left side nav, and click + New Session then click the Chat option.

New Session

Chat Settings

Just below the text input in a Chat, you will see 3 settings: Model, Data Sources and Search.

New Chat

Model

There are currently 3 different model options:

  • General: This uses OpenAI's GPT 5. This is a strong general purpose model, which is relatively fast, and good for most use cases.
  • Technical: This uses Anthropic's Claude 4 Sonnet. This is a really strong model for technical use cases and more human like tone and writing.
  • Reasoning: This uses Google's Gemini 2.5 Pro. This is a good model for large context windows (i.e. you have a lot of internal and external search results) and longer reasoning times to ensure a thorough response.

Data Sources

This allows you to control which data sources are used to generate a response. Depending on what your specified during onboarding, you can select from your website, your product documentation and your uploaded files.

This allows you to toggle web search on and off. When it's on, oper8r will search the web for top results to help generate a response. When it's off, oper8r will only use your active Data Sources to generate a response.

Functionality & Use Cases

Interacting with a Response

Each agent response will have:

  • A copy button, which allows you to copy the response in plain text, markdown or rich text.
  • An upvote and downvote button, which helps train oper8r over time.
  • A detailed list of sources, along with relevance scores, which allow you to research further and fact check oper8r's response.

Response Interaction

Intelligent Conversations

oper8r understands context and can:

  • Remember previous messages in the conversation
  • Reference earlier topics
  • Maintain conversation flow
  • Ask clarifying questions when needed

Example Prompts

Positioning

A customer from [company] has stated that [X], [Y] and [Z] are their key evaluation criteria. How are we best positioned to deliver value on those criteria?

Integration

Do we have [X] integration? If so, what are the steps to set it up? If not, how can I advise a customer to integrate [X]?

Compete Deal

I'm in a competitive deal with [company] against [competitor name] from [competitor website]. What trap setting questions and differentiators can I leverage?
What are the latest trends in our industry? How are we uniquely positioned to capitalize and deliver value?

Marketing Campaigns

Help me brainstorm marketing campaign ideas based on [X]

Product Roadmap

Based on the latest trends in our industry, what are some suggestions we might consider for our product roadmap?

Best Practices

Writing Effective Prompts

  1. Be Specific: Include relevant details and context
  2. Ask One Thing at a Time: Focus on a single question or task
  3. Provide Background: Give the agent context about your situation
  4. Use Follow-ups: Build on previous responses for deeper insights

Examples of Good Prompts

Instead of: "JavaScript SDK"
Try: "I need to advise a customer on integrating our JavaScript SDK. Please give the basic steps to get started."

Instead of: "Tell me about marketing"
Try: "What are effective digital marketing strategies for B2B SaaS companies like ours?"

Instead of: "Help with sales"
Try: "Based on [competitor name] from [competitor website], what pricing strategy should we consider to out position them in the enterprise?"

Getting Better Results

  • Reference Your Data: Ask about specific company information or uploaded files
  • Be Conversational: The agent works best with natural language
  • Iterate: Refine your questions based on the responses you get
  • Explore: Use follow-up suggestions to discover new insights

Tips for Success

Maximize Your Data

  • Review the Company Description and Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) in the Company Data section to ensure accuracy and completeness. Add any missing or relevant details that oper8r should know
  • Upload files with important and relevant information that oper8r should know
  • Add specific competitor data for comparative analysis
  • We will re-scrape your website and product documentation weekly to stay up to date

Conversation Strategies

  • Start with broad questions, then narrow down to refine responses
  • Ask "What else should I consider?" for comprehensive coverage
  • Use "Based on our data..." to leverage uploaded information
  • Request examples or case studies for practical insights
